CSF Meets with Mayor Rogers

Following the launch of CreativeSpaces-Fredericton’s survey in July, CSF President Leone Pippard met with Mayor Kate Rogers on July 30 to discuss our survey results and to put forward that CSF saw the need for the City to play a more active role in providing our community’s professional artists sufficient and affordable studio spaces to conduct their creative practises. The Mayor said, “The city has clearly dropped the ball on this issue,” and encouraged CSF to utilize the city’s existing art program funding opportunities in order to start addressing it. CSF, however, sees several difficulties in how these programs are structured to permit the kind of support that is required to assist artists with this issue. To help remove these difficulties, CSF will be making several specific recommendations to the City in 2026.
