CSF releases results of its survey assessing Fredericton artists’ need for affordable studio space

July 24, 2025

CreativeSpaces-Fredericton (CSF) released today its snapshot survey report “Assessing Fredericton Artists’ Need for Affordable Studio Space”. The report highlights the difficulty Fredericton artists face in knowing where to look and find available and affordable studios. The lack of studio spaces has been a long-standing issue in the city, wherein emerging and professional artists are not being provided adequate spaces and facilities to conduct their creative practice. This is limiting their ability to be viable contributors to the city’s creative economy. CSF’s snapshot survey report identifies the diverse creative disciplines that need studio space; the three main types of studios Fredericton artists’ require; what artists can afford to pay for studio space; and, some of the studio facilities and additional supports they need. In the report’s conclusion, CSF calls on the City of Fredericton to make resolving this long-standing cultural issue a priority for action in its 2026 Cultural Plan. To learn more, visit Resources.
